Dan Cammish:
“I’m looking forward to this weekend, coming off the back of a very strong showing at Thruxton. We’re hopeful that we can continue the momentum into Silverstone. I’m going there with every chance of having more success, so we’re pushing hard for it, the team’s worked hard, and I see no reason why we can’t be successful.
“The track has suited the Ford in the past and we’ve turned a corner recently. The momentum is with us, so I’m hopeful that we’re going to be pretty competitive. It is only four corners, so it’s hard to make a difference, but the car has gone well in the past as have I, so I think we’ve got a good package.
“I’ve still got a fair bit of hybrid left, being eighth in the championship, so that will be useful at Silverstone, due to it’s limited number of corners. The gaps between the field are going to be tiny and every little bit is going to count.”
Dan Cammish heads to Silverstone this weekend (September 24/25) aiming to build off his strongest British Touring Car Championship performance so far this season, claiming a win and second place at Thruxton last time out.
Building on a positive upturn in performance after hard work by his NAPA Racing UK / Motorbase Performance crew at Snetterton, the Yorkshireman was back at the front of the field at Truxton, underlining his pace with pole position which he duly converted to a dominant victory.
Dan again looked comfortable in race two, leading from the front, but then played the team game, maturely allowing Ash Sutton to get past to boost his colleague’s championship aspirations, understanding the bigger picture.
The short but challenging Silverstone National circuit, 1.6 miles in length and featuring just five corners, has been a happy hunting ground for Dan in his BTCC career, taking one win and two further podiums in nine previous race appearances.
After a shakedown session on Friday afternoon, Dan will head out for two free practice sessions on Saturday, September 24th at 09:25 and 12:05, before qualifying at 15:15 with live coverage on itv.com/btcc. A day later, there will be three 22 lap races, scheduled for 11:40, 14:10, and 17:10, all of which will be shown in their entirety on ITV4.
