Dan Cammish:
“Last time I went to Silverstone I had some not-so-great memories in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. this year I’d like to be on fire because I’ve won, not because I am actually on fire! I’ve got a good record at the circuit in the Porsche where I’ve managed to finish on the podium five times, and I’ve had some great times there in touring cars. It has been a decent race for me over the years and I hope we can can continue that.
“I’ve got to see what comes with our test on Wednesday. It’s very close, there are only a few corners, and we’ve got some homework to do, so we’re going to get our heads down. We’re back at the top of the championship and with a nice margin. We’ve managed to escape from the pack and get a bit of breathing room but it only takes one bad result and we are right back where we were. We need a good consistent weekend at Silverstone to take us into the final few races of the year and then we can see where we are.”
Dan Cammish is set to complete back-to-back weekends in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB as the series heads to Silverstone for rounds 11 and 12 of the season on the short and exciting National circuit layout.
Last weekend the Duckhams Oils and Porsche Centre Preston-backed driver claimed pole position and followed up with a win and second place to swing the championship in his favour, leaving Croft with an eight-point lead over Lorcan Hanafin.
Dan has had great results at Silverstone with Redline Racing, taking two wins and three second place finishes at the venue, though his last Carrera Cup outing in 2017 was marred by a freak incident when tyre debris stuck to his exhaust and caught fire, causing his retirement while leading comfortably and costing him a shot at his third title in a row.
This time out the Yorkshireman will be hoping to continue his good run of form, having finished in the top five in the past seven races in a row – and on the podium in the last three contests.
After an official Porsche test on Wednesday and two practice sessions on Friday, Dan will head out for qualifying at 14:00 on Saturday, September 25, before tacking two 28-lap races on Sunday at 09:35 and 15:00, with the latter broadcast live on ITV4.
