Dan Cammish:
“Croft is kind of a home race for me, born and raised in Yorkshire, so it’s always good to go back and we should have quite a lot of support from family and friends, so that’ll be great. I’ve gone well there in the Porsche historically, and it’s been a fair few years since I last drove it in the Carrera Cup.
“I really want to get the second half the season off to a good start. We’re there or thereabouts in the championship, but it’d be nice to have a bit more speed and I’m hoping over the second half of the season we can improve a little bit. We’ve had a bit of an up and down campaign, and everyone has actually. If you look at the top four or five, someone could be winning the championship by quite a way, but they’re not because everyone’s had their own little dramas.
“I think scoring points and racking up the podiums is important, but it will be nice to win a few more races as well. I’ve only won one so far, so I’d really like to get a couple more wins under my belt before the season finishes, but to do that, we need to find a little bit more speed, so I’m hopeful that when we get to Croft we’ll get the edge back that we need.”
Dan Cammish is set to return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend (September 18/19) as the busy second half of the series gets underway at Croft in Yorkshire.
With four meetings featuring eight races taking place over just six weeks, some strong performances could vault the Yorkshireman into prime position for his third series title, though with just 20 points covering the top six in the standings, Dan knows it is all to play for.
The Redline Racing driver, who competes in a Duckhams Oils and Porsche Centre Preston liveried 911 GT3 Cup car, has had success at Croft in the past, taking three podiums including two wins in four races at the circuit in the Carrera Cup. However, with the championship so competitive this year, previous form has gone out of the window.
After two unofficial practice sessions on Friday, September 17, Dan will head out on track for qualifying at 15:30 a day later, with two 15 lap races set to take place at 13:15 and 17:40 on Sunday, September 19.
