Dan Cammish:
“I’m looking forward to getting out on track and am excited to be back in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. The championship has changed since I last raced in it, but I’m hoping to re-discover some of the magic. I’ve got no expectations but I’m hoping to be in the fight and score a couple of strong points finishes.
“Snetterton has been good to me in the past as I have taken four wins in the Carrera Cup at the venue and it’s a circuit that I really enjoy racing on, plus it’s a good place for the Cup car as you can get the best out of it there.”
Two-time Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Dan Cammish is set to make his return to the series with Team Redline Racing this weekend (June 12/13) as the season gets underway at Snetterton in Norfolk with a pair of 14-lap contests.
Dan enjoyed a superb run of success in the series, scoring 23 victories in 32 races over the 2015 and ’16 seasons as he claimed back-to-back championship titles. He was unlucky not to make it a remarkable three in a row in ’17 when he raced a dual campaign in the Carrera Cup GB and Porsche Supercup.
Making a move to the British Touring Car Championship in 2018, he continued to impress as he scored two wins in his first season and narrowly missed out on the Drivers’ Championship in ’19 owing to a brake failure with just one and a half laps of the season remaining, before coming close again last year as well.
After an excellent stand-in BTCC appearance in May, where he scored a podium finish while filling in at short notice for BTC Racing, his focus is now fully on his Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign, where he is aiming to build on his exceptional 68%-win rate, having taken 32 victories in 47 races to date.
Dan will be out on track for two unofficial practice sessions on Friday, June 11th before qualifying at 15:30 on Saturday. The first race of the season is set to get underway at 10:40 on Sunday, June 13th, with the second broadcast live on ITV4 at 16:25 that afternoon.
