Dan Cammish:
“It started well. My first few laps went well but I wasn’t able to do anything after that. I kept catching traffic and then we had a red flag, then traffic. The track dried a bit and I think I struggled with it drying. I couldn’t find any more speed in the car and it became really tough to drive, so we need to look at that. In the full wet the car is great, so we just need to investigate performance on a drying track. I think I had some laps taken away, so I’ll have to look into why that was the case.
“It should be dry tomorrow; I think the first race will be tough from third and the second race should be all right. The car was really good in the dry in the practice sessions so we’ll have to see what we can do.”
Daniel Cammish piloted his Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG backed car to pole position for the final race of the 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup season.
The Leeds-based driver initially led the way in the wet session but as the track dried the advantage fell into the hands of his rivals in terms of overall pace. With each lap being a voyage of discovery to find news grip or parts to avoid Charlie Eastwood and Dan Lloyd were able to sneak in faster times, denying Dan pole position for the first race by just two tenths of a second.
Dan’s consistency however proved to be key to him securing pole position for round 16, with his second fastest time being almost as quick as his fastest. The achievement secures his 13th pole position of the year, which means he has started over 81% of the races this season from P1.
Race one starts at 10:35 on Sunday 2nd October with highlights of race one will be shown on ITV4 after 12:15. Race two will be broadcast live on ITV4 at 16:17.
