Dan Cammish:
“I think we did a really good job. The car was just a joy to drive. Redline and Frank, my engineer, have just given me such a good car and it was just really, really nice to drive. I think on the first set of tyres we did well but there was a bit more left in the locker, especially from me. I think I had a couple of times taken away for track limits at Brooklands, which is fair enough. I wasn’t aware that the bit of track I was hitting was an issue but I’m glad they told me because I went faster after I stopped hitting it. Maybe that was the key!
“On the second set I really pushed it on more and the time just kept coming and coming. The car was great so I’m really happy. The race is going to be tough but I’m glad I’ve got a guy behind me, my teammate in the first race because that will push me but I know they won’t try anything daft. You’ve really only got one shot at overtaking here, which is into Brooklands. I’m going to be trying to win and do the best job we can.”
Daniel Cammish put on an impressive display of speed to lock up pole position for rounds 13 & 14 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Silverstone. By setting two times faster than the competition Dan was able to net his 12th pole position and his sixth double pole of the season. The only race weekend that he has not started on the front row for both races was Croft where his efforts were blighted by gearbox issues.
Despite having an earlier time disallowed for a track limits infringement, Dan actually found more time to go fastest in the session. After pitting to change onto a new set of tyres he was able to pilot the Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG Paint-backed car to a faster time, always moving the bar a little higher for his rivals.
In a grid where first to 14th place is covered by under a second, Dan did very well to secure a gap of over two-tenths of a second to the second-placed runner. Nearest title rival Dino Zamparelli starts race one in fifth place and race two in third, which should aid Dan with his title charge. He will also benefit from having a teammate starting alongside him in both races.
Dan leads the championship by 44 points and needs to outscore Dino Zamparelli to secure the 2016 championship making it a back-to-back title success.
Round 13 takes place on Sunday at 12:38 with round 14 following at 16:30. Both races being broadcast live on ITV4.
