Dan Cammish:
“We’ve had a really good weekend and we’ve brought it home with two wins,” said Dan. “In the first race, I got a good start, got a nice gap and then I just settled into a bit of a rhythm. Charlie had some speed as well; I think he pushed in the middle and tried to come back at me. We always had something left to move the gap to and from, depending on how fast Charlie was going really.
“We’ll be carrying this momentum into the next two rounds. I think sometimes you rest on your laurels, and at the start of the year, I found it hard to get my motivation going for it. I think at Croft where it kind of fell apart a bit, and I had to give myself a kick, I did, and I’ve been strong ever since really. We’re just going to push it until the end now.”
Daniel Cammish made it a 100%-win rate at Knockhill, taking the double victory for the second year on the trot in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
By his own admission, the Leeds-based driver does not count the 1.3-mile, 9-turn circuit as one of his strongest. Despite this, he was still able to convert his double pole position starts into two wins and two fastest laps, taking a maximum points haul from the weekend.
Dan had to defend from Eastwood in the opening stages of round 11 on Sunday morning but was able to maintain his lead during the opening laps and control the pace as the race drew on. Tyre management was an issue for all the drivers, but it was manageable and something the team could improve with a setup change for race two. A good start from the standing start grid saw Dan led the race to the chequered flag for another dominant victory
The nearest competition for the Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG-backed car came from teammate and Porsche Scholar Charlie Eastwood, who qualified just behind Dan on the grid. Dan’s nearest championship rival Dino Zamparelli fared less well, taking a brace of sixth places, allowing Dan to extend his championship lead to 44 points.
The championship moved to Silverstone, the home of British motorsport next for rounds 13 & 14 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB on the 17th and 18th September.
