Dan Cammish:
“We had a really fast car in race one. Race two was much harder as we’d made some changes to the car which made it a bit tougher to drive. It is the right direction but maybe not for this track, so we learnt something there. It meant the second half of the race was quite tough. I think I did a good job in the first half to keep Dino at bay by just enough and he ran out of time to catch me, so I timed it pretty well.
“The car became a bit of a fight a bit earlier than expected so there’s a bit of tweaking required there but it was very good and I’m very happy with the result. It was a good weekend in general. Getting pole position without actually having to qualify was great!”
Daniel Cammish expertly piloted his Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG sponsored car to a second win at Silverstone, taking his first double victory of the season.
The Northamptonshire track played host to the first Carrera Cup GB races in the championship’s history to take place on the Grand Prix circuit. Dan clearly relished the opportunity to assert his ability around the 3.661-mile F1 circuit. Due to the cancellation of Saturday’s qualifying session, the grid was decided on championship order after round three, as a consequence, Dan duly lined up in pole position for the standing start of the race.
Dan got a good start off the line to build a lead over nearest rival Dino Zamparelli. From there it was a case of controlling the gap and bringing the car home as the clock counted down on the 30-minute race. Zamparelli was able to maintain the margin but never able to match Dan’s speed and left Dan to cross the line to take his first double victory of the year.
Dan now leads the championship by four points from Zamparelli. The Championship moves to Dan’s home circuit of Oulton Park for rounds five and six of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB on the 5th and 6th June.
