Dan Cammish:
“It was really good. The car felt so much better than yesterday but speaking to a few people I think everyone’s kind of did. The sun came out, rubber has gone down, and the track has come alive a bit more. Traffic was barely an issue either, I thought it would have been a nightmare, but I did quite a good job of finding a bit of space. I was happy with the laps. I think I overdrove at the start of the session, but the last two laps were really good, I was calm and collected so I was pleased with that. It’s so close but starting on pole at Brands Hatch is really important so I’m happy. The first race has a rolling start so that makes it even more important to be on the inside, we’re definitely starting at the right end.”
Daniel Cammish has qualified on pole position for both opening rounds of the 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup season.
The Leads-based driver claimed the top times for both races by just over a tenth of a second around the 1.2-mile Kent speed bowl. The session, which took place under brilliant sunshine, ran very cleanly with all the drivers behaving themselves and giving each other space. Dan was able to get out on track at the right time to bank the laps over his two runs on new tyres.
The Nationwide-backed driver lapped in the low 46-second bracket, taking pole position from nearest rival Dino Zamparelli by a tenth of a second. Around such a short circuit it was all that he needed to do to secure the top spots for Sunday’s races.
Race one takes place at 10 am on Sunday with race two starting at 3:30. The second race will be televised live on ITV4.
