Dan Cammish:
“It was a good weekend. Practice went well and I did a really good job in qualifying. I was out there because it was so hot, and the nature of the track meant that the fastest lap was the first.
“I was quickest on the first set of tyres and was leading at the halfway stage. It’s never nice when you are quickest because inevitably people are quicker on the second set. I managed to put in another great lap but was pipped by Michael [Ammermüller]. I can’t complain too much though, as he was the fastest driver this weekend.
“I made a great start from the front row. I managed to hook it up and get a great launch. I had six or seven laps in the lead and was quite comfortable, but then I just ran out of grip. We need to look into it was to whether it was set up or a driving issue. Dennis [Olsen] got me as well and in the last few laps, I was driving around the problem.
“The track temp was 45 degrees, so it was easy to overheat the rear tyres, but we got the fastest lap of the race and it just shows that we were so much quicker than the guy in fourth, so we were in a class of our own. We’d used what we had and at that point, I was in P3. I need all the points I can get for the championship and I needed to consolidate what I had.”
