Dan Cammish:
“I’m looking forward to the weekend, we went really well at Thruxton the first time there in May. I qualified P3, a fraction from pole, and I’m pretty sure that we know how to fix that. I think we’ve got a very good chance of being right at the front. I want to be at the sharp end, and I think we’ve got the tools to do it.
“We’ve turned a bit of a corner at Snetterton, certainly in race trim, which is exciting. As a team we’re full of confidence and positivity that we can go there, have a great qualifying, and three great races. I’m confident that we can have a really strong weekend. I’ve done well in the past there, it’s always suited me, and I’m very much looking forward to the weekend.”
British Touring Car Championship star Dan Cammish is looking forwards to the second visit of the series to Thruxton in Hampshire this weekend (August 27/28) as he and the NAPA Racing UK team turned a performance corner last time out.
Having an up and down season with strong weekends followed by struggles, the experienced crew at Motorbase Performance continued to work diligently to understand the performance of Dan’s Ford Focus ST and felt like something was unlocked at Snetterton.
Qualifying eighth at the Norfolk venue, Dan claimed seventh position in race one and looked set for a strong weekend before contact sent him tumbling down the order in race two, before an intermittent power problem robbed him of top end speed in the final contest.
Despite those setbacks, the Yorkshireman left the venue optimistic for the rest of the campaign and is looking forward to a Thruxton return after qualifying third there in May, a mere 0.081s off pole position.
Dan and NAPA Racing UK will have two 40-minute practice sessions on Saturday, August 26th, before qualifying at 15:25, which will be shown live on ITV’s BTCC website. The first of three 16 lap races is set for 11:45 on Sunday, followed at 14:35 and 17:20, all of which will be broadcast live on ITV4.
